As promised, here is a good representation of the range of eggs produced by different birds. All of these eggs were laid within several days of each other. The wee little one on the left is probably the first egg produced by the chicken who laid it. The last egg on the right is an average-sized duck egg. Colors vary from bird to bird, and there are slight color variations from a single bird.
There is just nothing as delightful as collecting eggs in the morning, especially if the work is followed by a very fresh frittata (garnished, of course, with other garden goodies like onions and herbs)!
